How to use Scotchgard™ Suede & Nubuck Protector

Keep your suede and nubuck looking great with a few simple steps.

1. Clean

Remove mud, dirt, salt, etc. from boots, shoes, or other items.
2. Prepare

Protect floor, walls, or other surfaces from overspray. If overspray occurs, quickly wipe up.
3. Shake

Shake can well.
4. Test

Test for colorfastness. Spray hidden area until wet and wipe vigorously with a white absorbent cloth. If color rubs off, DO NOT USE.
5. Spray

Hold can upright 6’’ (15cm) from fabric surface. Overlap spray using a slow, sweeping motion. Two light coats are better than one heavy coating. Allow to dry between coats and before use.
6. Reapply

Reapply to maintain protection. Durability of protection varies with wear. NOTE: May give leather a slightly darker, richer tone.

What kinds of things can I use Scotchgard™ Suede & Nubuck Protector on?
Use Scotchgard™ Suede & Nubuck Protector on boots, shoes, coats, gloves, hats, and purses.
How long does Scotchgard™ Suede & Nubuck Protector take to dry?
At about average room temperature (70 degrees F, 50% Humidity), your fabric or upholstery should dry overnight, but make sure to check before you start using treated surfaces again. When it’s colder or more humid, it might take longer for your surfaces to dry. Ventilating the area by opening windows or using a fan will help Scotchgard™ Suede & Nubuck Protector dry faster. If you’re just drying between coats, 2 – 4 hours is usually sufficient.
What fabrics can Scotchgard™ Suede & Nubuck Protector be used on?
In general, Scotchgard™ Fabric Protector can be used on all kinds of suede and nubuck. Do NOT use Scotchgard™ Suede & Nubuck Protector on smooth or polished leather.
Can Scotchgard™ Suede & Nubuck Protector be used on fabric?
Do not use Scotchgard™ Suede & Nubuck Protector on fabric or carpet – it’s great for suede and nubuck, but could damage fabric. Instead, use Scotchgard™ Fabric Water Shiel.
Can I use Scotchgard™ Suede & Nubuck Protector on microsuede?
Microsuede is actually a type of fabric, and not suede at all – try Scotchgard™ Fabric Water Shield for your microsuede, but be sure to spot-test a small, out-of-the-way area 􀉥rst to make sure it won’t damage the nap of your microsuede.
How often should Scotchgard™ Suede & Nubuck Protector be reapplied?
Reapply Scotchgard™ Suede & Nubuck Protector when your suede looks like it’s no longer repelling water and stains, after cleaning, or about once every six months – whichever comes first.
